Gina Scappaticci – Owner Universal Tile & Marble, Inc.

Hello! My name is Gina Scappaticci.  I was born in Dearborn, MI and have earned business degrees from University of Michigan  (2003) and Wayne State University (2007).  I went on to earn my Residential Builder’s License in 2010.  Yes, I was the only woman in the class!

As a very young person, I would help my father answer phones and write invoices for his customers.  I remember as a child always asking questions about the business and wanting to get more involved.  At first, I didn’t want to go to college, so my father brought me to work with him for one day to see what manual labor was all about.  After that one day, I decided that it was in my best interest to attend college.  I went on to complete school through a Master’s Degree in Business.  I always knew I wanted to own my own business, but wasn’t sure how this would come to fruition.  Then, Antonio came along…

Antonio Consiglio – Owner Universal Marble & Tile, Inc.

Hi! My name is Antonio Consiglio.  I was born in Carini, Italy and was raised in Terrasini, Italy (Sicily).  I immigrated to Detroit in search of a better life and the American Dream.  I met Gina while I was actually talking about her in Italian to some friends.  I didn’t know her background, which of course meant that she understood everything I said!  We dated for a few years, but I knew I was going to marry her the first time we had dinner together.  We were married and currently reside in the Plymouth/Northville area with our dog, Luigi.

My passion in life is Tile.  I began learning the tile trade, at the age of 13, in Italy where I went to work to support my family.  To this day I love the marble and tile business and Gina and I incorporated Universal Marble & Tile, Inc. in February 2010.

And so the story goes, Gina created her own business with Antonio, and Antonio is living the American Dream.
